Use kaidashi with Claude or ChatGPT

Updated

Tell your assistant what you need, by voice or text: it adds the items to your kaidashi list, tells you what is left to get at a store, or checks off what you already have. Your whole household sees it right away, as if you had done it in the app.

One recipe, one list

The handiest way: paste a recipe, a link to a recipe, or your meal plan for the week into the chat. Your assistant picks out every ingredient and adds them all to your list at once, with quantities and units, in the household and store you choose.

kaidashi doesn’t read recipes itself: your assistant reads the text or page you give it, then fills in the list.

Before you start

You need the kaidashi app, signed in, on your phone: that is where you approve the connection. The address to give your assistant is https://kaidashi.app/mcp.

The easiest way: in the app, go to Profile › Connected assistants, tap Claude or ChatGPT, and follow the 3 steps.

With Claude

  1. On claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app, open Customize › Connectors, tap “+”, then “Add custom connector”.
  2. Name: kaidashi; URL: https://kaidashi.app/mcp. Continue.
  3. A kaidashi page opens and shows an 8-character code (for example 7Q4M-K2XP).
  4. In the kaidashi app: Profile › Connected assistants › I have a code. Type the code shown on the page, check the assistant’s name and its status (Verified), then tap Allow. The page goes back to Claude on its own.

According to Anthropic’s help center, custom connectors are available on every plan, including Free (one custom connector on Free); on Team and Enterprise plans, owners add them. Anthropic help.

With ChatGPT

  1. On chatgpt.com, open Settings › Apps › Advanced settings and turn on developer mode.
  2. Create an app with the URL https://kaidashi.app/mcp and OAuth authentication.
  3. Approve the code in the kaidashi app, as with Claude (Profile › Connected assistants › I have a code).

ChatGPT developer mode is in beta. According to OpenAI’s help center, full support (needed to add and edit items) is available on Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans, on the web; Pro gets read-only access. These terms change often: check OpenAI help.

Things you can say

What the assistant can do

It will be able to see your lists and add, edit, check off, and delete items in all your households. It can’t manage households or members, or send invites. Only enter a code that’s shown on your own screen.

Disconnect an assistant

In the kaidashi app: Profile › Connected assistants, then Disconnect. The assistant loses access right away. You can also remove the connector in Claude or ChatGPT. Signing out of the app doesn’t disconnect your assistants.
