The grocery list for your whole restaurant team
Updated
Out of cream, down to the last few limes, the register needs paper: it all gets mentioned mid-service, and forgotten by the time anyone gets to the wholesaler. With kaidashi, the team at your restaurant, café, food truck, or catering business shares one grocery list, updated live on everyone’s phone.
A “household” for your restaurant
kaidashi started out as an app for home groceries, so a shared list is called a “household.” For your restaurant, create a household and give it a name your team will recognize: “The Bistro,” “Kitchen,” “Bar.” Whoever creates the household is its admin and can rename it anytime. You can also have several households: one for the kitchen and one for the bar, or one per location. Each household has its own items, stores, and members, and you switch between them by tapping the household name.
Kitchen or front of house, everyone notes what’s missing
The line cook just emptied the last jug of oil? They add it to the list from their phone, right then and there. Type the first few letters: kaidashi suggests what your household usually buys and guesses the unit; quantities come in units, kilos, or liters. Barcode on the package? One scan does it: a known product is added on its own after 5 seconds. Items someone else adds show up with their avatar. Everyone keeps their own phone, iPhone or Android (on Android, through the test for now): in the same household, the whole team sees the same list, live.
At the wholesaler, the list updates live
Whoever does the buying watches the list fill up live, even in the wholesaler’s aisles: the lemons the front of house asked for show up while you’re still in produce. Drag each item into the cart with your thumb, and the rest of the team instantly knows it’s been picked up, and by whom. Too quick? Tap “Undo” right after. At the back of the warehouse, where there’s no signal, the list keeps working: everything syncs as soon as you’re back online.
Wholesaler, market, supermarket: a store for each
Sort items by store, each with its own color: the wholesaler, the farmers market, the supermarket down the street, the wine shop… A filter shows only what you need where you are. The chef hits the market in the morning and the manager goes to the wholesaler in the afternoon? The cart groups what each person picked up, with the time: you know who got what, and nobody buys the cream twice. Back at the restaurant, tap “Clear cart.”
Invite the team
Open your profile (your avatar at the top of the list), then My households › Share: have them scan the QR code, or send the link in a message. Each person installs kaidashi and joins the household in seconds; the invite is valid for 7 days, and signing in needs no password. A seasonal hire heading out at the end of the summer? The admin removes them from the household.
What kaidashi doesn’t do
kaidashi is a shared grocery list, not restaurant management software. No supplier orders and no wholesaler catalog: you still do the buying, kaidashi tells you what to get. No inventory management: no stock counts, no par levels, no expiration dates, no food costs. No prices, no budget, no invoicing or accounting export. No business accounts or detailed team roles: everyone signs in with their own Apple or Google account, and all members see and edit the same list; the household admin can rename it and remove a member, and that’s it.
Free, no ads, your data in France
kaidashi is free, with no ads and no selling of your data. The list is only visible to the members of the household, and it’s hosted in France, by OVH (privacy policy).
